"The Mind is A Powerful Thing"

We'll here it is, September 19, 2012. Nine months since I began my quest to get organized and what a quest it has been. Now for most people, when a person says that they need to get organized it generally means getting your home, office, or maybe even your storage locker you purchased to house the extra stuff that your home doesn't have room for. But what if getting organized meant, organizing your material things and your mental things? For years I saw the physical clutter in front of me and never understood the mental clutter that was the cause. I've walked around in my life in this half-baked type thought process without any answers as to why. Could it be that I was just lazy? A terrible homemaker? Depressed? Overwhelmed? Maybe all of the above - I just couldn't tell you. But what I do know is that when your mind is unorganized, the life around you will be the same. Now I'll be honest, there were times that I should have posted my before and after clutter projects, that I have been working on between the gaps in my blogging, but recently I've been trying to cope with a past situation that has found its way to the forefront of my memories that have me feeling deeply ashamed and embarrassed and what's worse this event dictated who I was all these years. I share this with you today, as it is time to move forward and that someone may be going through the same thing as myself. I'm not looking for pitty and you can't change a thing, that the past is what it is and all I can do now is try to accept and move on. Easier said than done.  I believe it is important that when someone sets out to do something and they are not consistent, sometimes there is an underlining reason of explanation that helps those around you to understand and offer support.

I chose to go back to a therapist to help delve into the mysteries of my mind. Why do I do what I do and say what I say. Why did I feel like I had two people living in this body of mine? In late July I discovered why. When a person has experienced a traumatic event in their life, most times they deal with the event and move on slowly in the life. Others, for whatever the reason, block the event with the hopes that the memories will never return. It take a lot of work when a person blocks a pain, a hurt, a sorrow that in their mind they just don't want to handle and that is where my problems began and left me, for years on a path of extreme behaviors created by the mind to keep a memory from returning. Now when my therapist told me that it was possible for people to go on for years this way, I looked at her as if she was a fool, but in things that I wrote and said she began to see a pattern that resembled sexual abuse/assault. I could not recall anything major when she spoke of this, but I do remember feeling panicked, the room began to spin and my breath quickened.

I couldn’t get out of her office fast enough and was happy to know that I was only being seen every two weeks. Personally I always believed that it was my cancer diagnosis that resulted in a duel personality - one happy and one sad. When I felt sad or scared, then the extreme happy personality would shove the other personality out of the way and take over. Yet when my therapist asked me how long I felt I had this feeling of being two people, I responded “Since I first got to Adak.” Well now that ruled out my cancer being the cause of my extreme behavior, but what in heaven’s name happened in Adak other than the typical everyday military life and drama, that would make me feel that I need to think the way that I have over the past 21 years – It just didn’t add up in my mind, however could explain the excessive need to return to the island. I have always felt there was something I needed to go get, or find, but couldn’t explain it.

I’d have dreams about Adak that were extremely vivid, I could smell, hear, taste, touch, I was there but would wake up very upset when my dreams would take me into a club that I used to work at called the Husky Club, which I spoke about in my book “Through the Barracks Window”, but did not recall this traumatic event that I am about to share with you, until just this summer thanks to close Seabee friend who finally provided me with the answers that I had missed placed in my mind to protect myself from the hurt. When I asked him why he waited so long to tell me what he knew his response was – I didn’t want to be the bad guy and hurt my friend with what I knew and that it seemed that I had just moved passed it and he didn’t want to bring it up.” It was after talking to him, all the memories that I had banished away behind a locked door in my mind, where once again in front of me twenty-one years later. He never knew that I had just blocked it, I had never faced it and I should have from the start.  I am finding with each day I chose to talk about what happened to me, the clutter in my mind and in my home is rapidly diminishing. So what happened to me you asked? A man took something from me without asking as he knew the answer would be NO! AND NO MEANS NO!

I was a DJ after my military work/duties, at the Husky Club. I was 23 years old, single, and doing what I loved after my Seabee work - I got to play music for others to enjoy. My first few nights working there I was in a training type of status – having to learn how to fade one song into another, how to turn the equipment on and off, and getting over my fear of talking on the microphone. I was a fantastic DJ – when nobody was in the building. We are all great at something when nobody is around. Now we all have those mom moments, you know the ones when you’re about to do something and you hear your mother’s voice in the back of your mind telling you to think before you do it. Well I had hit one of those moments head on. I was still very timid about working the equipment and decided that I would stay after the club closed to go over the closing process one more time before going solo. I trusted the guy who was training me – and that was my downfall. He had brought me a beer, which had already been opened, that he had got while the bar tender was closing. He was so gitty when he said, “Here, this is one of the perks of being a DJ at the Husky when you are the one closing up the place – we get free beer!” I smiled and happily accepted it.

The music that was playing began to sound like and can best be described as white noise. That is when my happy moment and my love for music, while the song Diamonds and Pearls, by Prince, (Which is why - Liz, I hated it when you'd request this song endlessly over the next four years I was there, and you knew I wouldn't play it. Now It has me wondering if you knew what happened? What I am told now is that  my reaction to your request then could be considered  a trigger and that I didn't understand  why the song bothered me  because my mind had chosen to block the memory of how it related.) It continued to play and my body was slowly becoming limp. The music sounded like it was beginning to fade on and off. I remember feeling tired and dazed and once in a great while I could see colored lights flash before my eyes as he spoke, “Nobody has to know.” The lights and white noise were also dreams I would have but could never find the relevance of them to my life.  I didn’t like the feeling of him touching me as he took a hold of me to lead me across the dance floor to another room, but I didn’t have any strength to pull away. I remember seeing the ladies room, but he took me into the back office with a mattress on the floor.  I hated the way he felt on top of me, but I couldn’t scream for help! I hated the scent of his cologne, but couldn’t get fresh air! I hated the sound of his voice telling me how beautiful and sexy I was! I HATED IT ALL! I HATED HIM! I was filling with rage while feeling completely helpless. I wanted to strike him, hurt him, scream at him, pull his hair, but my body just lay there – numb. I could feel the warmth of my tears pool into the corner of my eyes and then run down the side of face into my ears and then down my neck. I tried to just fixate on the warmth of my tears and he took want he wanted from me physically and sexually. He was a thief in the night never to be trusted again.

It was then I felt myself morf into a split person, just like being cut completely in half from head to toe. I told myself to think of something else it will all be over soon and you will forget about it. I remember going deep within myself looking for things that made me happy as he continued to have his way with me. I don’t remember when the thief finished with me, but what I do remember is constantly looking for the pink shirt that I wore that night that was never to be found again. I remember hearing loud banging on the door and soon a man’s voice saying to me, “I’m sorry I left you alone with him, I’m so sorry, will you ever forgive me.” I never looked up to see his face, I knew the voice and that he worked there, but I didn't know him personally. He insisted that I call the police, but  I just wanted to go back to my barracks room never to come out again. My personality was always positive when I finally went back to work, I refused to deal with what had happened, however my dislike to be touched by people became extreme. I tried dating guys while on the island, but I couldn't find the ability to connect and the idea of sex sickened me.

When the man I am now married to today, arrived on the island in 1992, I had pretty much given up on men all together. Until the night that I met him. I honestly feel that was the night that my mind had blocked what had happened to me months earlier. My husband's touch is the only touch I wanted and would accept. He had a special quality unlike the others I had dated - his hugs made me feel 100% safe and still does to this very day. I never reported what had happened to me and by the time I had met my husband, I had completely blocked what had happened, but trust me, people on the base must have known which may, or may not, explain why they were so upset that I got married only knowing a guy three months. Maybe they believed I married him because I was running away from the pain of what happened. I’ll set that record straight – How can someone run from something they don’t remember?? I married my husband, because I love him and so very much in love with him and I don’t want anyone else. It hurts me to think that still after all these years, a person who took something from me, still was taking from me mentally after all of these years and my friends and family had to suffer while I struggled with what the doctors believe were/are symptoms of P.T.S.D. for years and didn’t know or remember why.

To my friend who found the courage to share what they knew about that tragic part of my life on the Rock and then also let me know that I was not the only one who had been taken advantage of at the club – I thank you.  I am sure it was hard to finally reveal what you knew, but please understand I could never be mad at you and I am so thankful that it was you who told me. It will take me a long time to actually say the four letter "R" word that describes what happened to me, but I have given the information/documentation to the right people to help me move passed the memories of the event and finally be the "one personality" me I used to be. You my friend have given me a new light on life and myself and my family thank you.

I tell myself that with each improvement, accompanied by music that inspires me to stay on a positive road another spark of happiness shines. These are a couple of my many favorites to get me motivated and helped me attacked the Spare bedroom madness.

I know the process takes time and with the support that I have from my friends and family, I will overcome this. I have not given up my goal to be organized by the 2013 and I promise you...I WILL DO IT! I may not blog every day, but I do my best to write at least twice a week to keep you updated on this progress. I know - you will not be disappointed.

Below are before and after pictures of the dreaded spare bed room/office clutter hell that I battled for months, but is now in an excellent example of what happens when you let your mind go somewhere positive and your heart follows.
Looking at this I see the clutter
 that was in my mind.
Kinda gives a person whole new perspective
when someones asks you -
"What the hell are you thinking?"

Let's hope it lasts.

“Combat and rape, the public and private forms of organized social violence, are primarily experiences of adolescent and early adult life. The United States Army enlists young men at seventeen; the average age of the Vietnam combat soldier was nineteen. In many other countries boys are conscripted for military service while barely in their teens. Similarly, the period of highest risk for rape is in late adolescence. Half of all victims are aged twenty or younger at the time they are raped; three-quarters are between the ages of thirteen and twenty-six. The period of greatest psychological vulnerability is also in reality the period of greatest traumatic exposure, for both young men and young women. Rape and combat might thus be considered complementary social rites of initiation into the coercive violence at the foundation of adult society. They are the paradigmatic forms of trauma for women and men.”

Life without music = Depression (LET THE MUSIC PLAY!)

Hello out there in internet world! So, here we are, another month into my quest, and happy to report, process in the making. I know it has been a few days since my last post. Life has been crazy in the Bolin home, but a crazy that I wouldn't change for anything. Just a few of my accomplishments, have been getting my office organized. I know can you believe it! Holy Cow! I don't know what it is, but I think I have found the magic solution to get my butt out of neutral and start trucking forward. For example, I had this quilt that I got when my husband and I first moved to Maryland. It was called the wedding ring pattern. Now after 18 years, the quilt needed full retirement, and I don't mean to be donated to local charity, it needed to move on, out of this house and let Mr. Trash guy take it.  It was ripped, torn, even the threads of the fabric were like sugar glass, one touch and it would just fray. To look at the quilt I had so many memories, but then I felt a positive disconnect. In my mind, I appreciated the memories and knew that this quilt of many memories had also been in many photographs along the way. And so I did what my husband and boys never thought I could do in a million years...I walked outside and put it in the trash can, smiled and then walked back into the house. Now for me, that is a major mile stone and a great lesson in my life.  With this situation, I knew that I am moving up in my progress of letting go. That just because I hold on to things, doesn't mean that I can go back to the past...and then again, why would I want to. So much hurt in my past, I don't want to live that again. I want to remember the happy moments and not the sad. With this type of new thinking in my life, I am finding as I clean, that when I stumble upon things I kept for whatever the reason was then, the reasons differ now and I either throw them away or give them away if they are in good shape. It is a fabulous feeling.  I've noticed in my husband and kids, all the tension - GONE! I will admit it - Clutter makes people crazy!  You feel agitated, nervous; just something about it makes you feel as if you just can't relax. And that is the key word - RELAX. My family is relaxed and I love it. My husband and I are closer than we have ever been and my kids appear to be at peace. Clutter can mess up a kids world too, and I can only hope that I didn't clutter their minds so when they are out on their own, they continue with what bad habits I once had. I am good about sharing the fact that I was very depressed about life and the world around me. I had to find myself again and realize that I am important to myself. That I am talented and I can do whatever I set my mind to do, but I can also be my worst nightmare and can completely shut myself down if I feel hurt or damaged. Learning what those nightmare signs are, help me stay focused on remaining positive and live in the now.

Whats that? You have a question?  Ok, shoot. What do you want to know?

“Stacey, what in your life have you noticed is the reason behind your new found way of living and thinking? I know loosing the weight is a great motivator and you feel better, but there must be something more than loosing weight and doing things for your three boys?"

That is so easy to answer – MUSIC! Yes, you heard me right, music. When I looked back over the last five years, and wanted to find the missing link in my life. What was it that was gone that was vital in my thinking, my ways, my actions towards others? The answer had always been there, I just didn’t know how to find it until I started working on the final edits to get my book "Through the Barracks Window", published last May. The answer was music. My whole life has been intertwined with a multitude of various musical genres, artists, from a get slow jazz tune from the depths of the southernmost bayou to the hottest R&B techno dance beat from LA to NYC and back to the calming romantic slow dancing cowboy song to get close too with that special someone I love. Sometimes the music is not about the words, but just having an upbeat melody. Other times it is the words and how I am inspirited from one minute to the next. When I’m cleaning I play songs that will get me going or motivated. Like last Saturday, I went on YouTube, which is my favorite website. I listened to Enya, Lightening Seeds, The Cure, Amy Grant, Ratt, Bon Jovi, Kenny G, Metallica, Doors, and the list goes on and on.  I guess having been a DJ when I lived in Adak, AK in the early 90’s, is probably why I still go back to those songs from that time for me. As I always loved to watch the people who frequented the club and how they would react when a song came on that they enjoyed. I can still feel their energy and I guess that is how I get my energy – seeing people happy.

So again, I am happy to report that my cleaning efforts are getting stronger and my will to sit and write has also increased tremendously. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well with my book Pitch in Vegas and I think I can safely say that “Bellows in the Mist” will be out in May. AWESOME!  So that’s been my week in a nutshell. I’ll keep you posted on my progress and won’t allow so much of a time lapse. Sometimes I feel my posting are like watching a sitcom that keeps changing its air date. People get frustrated and wonder – DID IT GET CANCELLED? WTH! (Smile). Don’t worry I didn’t cancel myself.  So until my next post – Blog yah later gaters.

The songs I posted below is a perfect example of a melody that gets me motivated. Not so much for the words, just the musical composition. LOVE IT!

DANGER CONTENTS UNDER PRESSURE!

THAR SHE BLOWS!
It was such a wonderful day yesterday! After what felt like hours and hours of trying to make my way through the rough and treacherous terrain, I had finally seen the most wonderful sight as I stood holding myself up to keep from falling down with overwhelming amounts of joy and sheer happiness that I finally finished one of six feared projects - I had emptied the closet and had cleared the mound on our bed that came from the closet. Who in their right mind would have ever guessed that this deal would have me pondering the biggest math question of the day? You'll love this, but don't try to solve this...It is physically impossible without a five subject notebook and a box of pens from Office Depot. How many hangers, pairs of shoes, a vast array of various sizes of clothing items, men's girly magazines, ball caps with various designs, belts, old and new jackets and other extreme odds and ends, can you fit in a closet that is 2ft deep, 3.5 feet wide and 8 feet high? Ok, I was never really the greatest at word problems, but I know how I should have answered this question before it got cleaned out – there should have been a huge yellow caution sticker with the word danger in red lettering and the rest of the sticker that said:
Before
    " DANGER "
CONTENTS UNDER EXTREME PRESSURE
DO NOT OPEN!

The best part of my day, was when this mess that you see to your left, was completely transformed. I decompress the amount of crap that had found its way into this extremely small space, that maybe about 60 years ago, was called a closet, but compare it to the closets of today, this is now considered a locker. Now, not only did I decompress it, I downsized it's contents and then went on to color code it too. Below is the after picture. It feels great to know that I have completed another one of many tasks that I have on my to-do list.

After

I am also very excited to learn that today my sweetheart is helping me with my declutting and cleaning today, so that we can enjoy the Pro-bowl game this evening. It's another opportunity for me to learn the game and spend quality time with my husband and sons. So, for now - I thank you for keeping up my with progress and the words of encouragement. I can see the light at the end of this year long quest. I can't wait to be able to say - I finally did it! My remaining project of the day – I’m FINALLY GOING TO CLEAN THE COAT AND LINEN CLOSET. How many weeks have I've been saying I was going to do that?  Well folks, today is the day...Wish me luck! Enjoy the game.

THE CALL THAT STOPPED THE CLUTTER CLEAN

Let me start by saying, that no matter how much clutter I am faced to organize each day, my family will always come first if they need me, my ears, my advice, a hug, my help...you name it, I am there for them good or bad. So where do I start...Oh, I remember, It started out as any normal day would yesterday morning. I have been doing great with keeping up on putting things back in their rightful places. But have you ever had a situation when putting something back in their rightful place was a person? I know odd comment but I’ll explain soon? So, let’s begin today, with my philo that I believe to be fact. Life has a way of tripping you up, but if you’re prepared the outcome can be harmonious and life changing.
Yesterday I began my long to-do list, as I always do on Thursdays.  I have appointed Thursday as my day to leave the house early in the morning to get everything I need tended to that is out of the home.  My list included but was not limited to, taking the boy's to school, getting base stickers for both of our trucks, pick up prescriptions, get lab work done and go to the commissary. All of this accomplished before 10:00 am. I was feeling great that I had done so much in the course of three hours, I wanted to do something extra special for my honey.
My husband has been working at a job that is just around the corner from our home, which is very nice, because I can stop in quickly to drop off something special. I make his lunch every day, but I know that the same ole sandwich and chips gets boring. I try to switch up his food choices so that it’s a surprise when he sits down to eat. My plan yesterday was to drop him off his favorite candy, but as I pulled up to the job site, clearly something was wrong and had totally disrupted his day. I had not seen that pale look on his face since the doctors told me I had cancer. Immediately my mind was rushed bad images, because I had forgotten my cellphone at home and maybe I missed an important call.
His body language was frightening and I knew I had to stay calm to help keep the situation contained. I had asked if something had happened on the job, to which he replied no. I asked if he was feeling OK, and again, he replied no. So I knew something was upsetting him and asked him flat out, what was wrong. He had indicated that he had gotten a call from home and went on say and I quote “The doctors said there was nothing more they could do for my mom, and she is going downhill fast”. Now what would you think if you hear those words? Get your airline tickets? Make arrangements to take the family home? If it didn’t come from mom or dad directly…call home and find out if it was true?
All of those things entered my brain, and I was ready to have the whole family on a plane to be with his mother today. Yet, then my mind stopped in its tracks and I was forced to ask the one question I already had the answer too. “Who called and told you this?” I was not surprised when he told me who. The Drama Queen strikes again. I assured him that I didn’t feel the situation was a grave as he was thinking and told him I would call home myself to get an update. He assured me that he would call home, but there was no way that I was going to let him work with the heavy machinery that he operates, under that type of worry and stress. I’m glad I went with my gut instinct and I made that call as soon as I got home.
I was unable to get through the first couple of tries, but was finally successful and how shocked I was to hear this upbeat full of life voice on the phone. Instantly my fears subsided when she said that for the most part, in spite of all that she has been through, she was fine. I have to say, his mom has seen her share of medical challenges and keeps on truckin’. We laughed and joked on the phone for more than a half an hour. She shared with me the changes in her medical status, and what the next steps were. She has MS, and not all patients with this disease have the same treatment outcome. They just haven’t found the best regiment that meets all her needs. She had shared with me what the next course of treatment would be and to lighten the mood I was instructed to share with my husband that “Mom is fine and that he needs to realize that she was going to be around a long time to bug him.”
Now clearly the way that my husband had stated what her condition was, would have led you to believe she was about to take her last breath. I felt bad, but I had even told my husband before I left, that I didn’t believe this situation was all truth and that it was another one of those, feel bad for me the sky is falling moments. He was mad at my comment, but that quickly changed about an hour later. Going on, my husband is a nice guy, will do anything for anyone, and takes people at their word. But the one thing about this good hearted man...He hates a liar." He gets mad when I keep bring up that people these days have this great ability to stretch the truth.  I’m told I am over reacting, but today was the turning moment when I called him back and updated him. I sensed his anger and this time it wasn’t towards me. Phew! I thought sure he was going to be mad that I made the call that he told me not to. He is very aware that his mom is going through a lot, and he worries about her every day. The problem with this is that my husband has gotten this type of urgent call like clockwork for the past 12 years, putting this strong woman on her death bed. SAD! I take notice when something becomes repetitive and these types of calls are hard on my husband which in turn affects the whole family. Which has me thinking that the caller didn't completely listen to the news they had gotten at home and paniced or that are treading along the lines of intentional and could be viewed as a form of emotional abuse to make him feel guilty that he has not moved back home to be with his family more.
This is another reason why I dislike cell phones more and more. This whole situation could have waited until after working hours. People need to get the clue that, his boss can’t stress it enough at his place of employment…NO PERSONAL CALLS ON HIS (THE BOSSES) TIME! And I don’t blame him in the least. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve seen, when I was working, abuse the use of personal calls during working hours. Now don’t get me wrong, my husband doesn’t get nearly the calls that he used to and I will admit I’ve called my husband at work…and that is the two key words (My husband). Yet even being married to him, I don’t abuse the phone. Once in a great while I am following up to see how he was feeling, if I knew he had left the house not feeling his best. I try to make sure that he has headache and sinus meds with him. I may also call just to update him on a change in plans with the boys. But for the most part, I let him call me, but don’t wait by the phone expecting it. If he does call from work it is usually only on days when he will have breaks, or in a pause status as he waiting for the next part of a project to begin. But you’ll never see me calling and talking for 35 minutes on the bosses time.
By the end of the day, I didn’t know how he had faired the emotional storm, but was so happy when he came in the front door smiling and grabbed the house phone and said he was calling his mom back. I was again relieved to hear that he called her directly. Thank God!  He had been talking with his mother on the phone, on his way home from work when his battery died. He immediately called her back and the two of them had a wonderful conversation. I stepped out of the room to give him some privacy, but I couldn't help but over hear his laughter that filled every room of our home while he spoke.

When his call was over, We both agreed that he needed to call his mother and father directly and weekly. That if he didn't and something happened to them, he would never forgive himself. That he needed to build his bond with them, even if over the phone for now, until we finally get out west before our retirement years. That what they talk about should be kept between them, so that it would be their special time unless someone indicates that something they said was ok to tell others. I feel that it is very important that he keeps in constant contact with them as their son, and should share with them what is going on in his life first hand and vise-versa. I am also doing the same as their daughter-in-law and that I truly have enjoyed getting to know them again and I have made it very clear that they will be informed if something bad happens here. That they will hear it directly from us so that there are no questions. By making these changes in our lives , we anticipate that the dramatic episodes and third person miss information will reduce, with quickness – we can only hope.

So in analyzing my extreme procrastination, I have found that I must take each life situation and take the information in, review it rather than react to it by, either sleeping on it or address it. After that file it away, and get back to my cleaning this house out. Or if all else fails...write a book about it or blog it.  Now I think you will be surprise, and I will not let myself be embarrased to openly admit that I have found an organizer that is willing to work with me pro-bono. Her request is to get the big stuff either put in its place or thrown away, and then she will come in to work on the little things with me. I’m excited. I can only hope she will also help me to stay on track when things happen unexpectedly. I should have my progress photos up soon. I’m hoping later tonight, but I am also writing a story for a contest that is due in next Tuesday. UGGH! (Smile). My plate is full, but I'm energized and have graduated from the speed of snail to a turtles pace. Have a great weekend everyone! Thanks for reading.

"Paper Whore"

Day One

Greetings one and all to another New Year and a new blog. One that I think will be full of accomplished goals. Keeping my fingers crossed. This blog will differ from my usual norm of family issues, personal funnies, and life in general. This blog is a quest to change myself with the hopes that you the readers will set me straight on facing my personal issues as I deal with trying to become organized and learning to part with materialistic clutter than has taken up residency in our home. As many of you frequent readers, of my other blog, http://bu3-ret-staceybolin.blogspot.com, have read, you all know that I can't organize myself out of a wet paper bag, but can organize anyone else to the point of perfection - Explain that one. To start, I call myself a paper whore. Yes, you read it correctly. Rather than file something away, it gets stacked up on the corner of my hutch, office desk, in a box and thrown out in the garage, you name it, but it doesn't stop with paper, there is so much more you'll learn about my clutter and myself as we take this journey together.

What I need to do is to get back to the simplistic ways in which we once lived when we first bought our home. We had nothing. I want a less is more look in  my home. I want to know that when I am looking for a document, I know just where it is, what drawer it is in, and what folder I will find it in. Right now, I can tell you what room it's in, but it will take me about an hour of moving this and that and then I can't guarantee I'll find it. Yes, I know, very sad. I won't make excuses anymore. Here it is, MY FLAW for the public to know about. The first step in dealing with a problem is knowing you have one. "My name is Stacey Bolin, and I am unorganized."

So this blog is my personal daily journey as I try to make a grand transformation once and for all. I know that most people need professionals to help them get organized and trust me, If I had the money or somebody willing to deal with me, they'd be here. So today is the first day in making the change against my clutter addiction. My vow is to create an environment that is organized and maintained on a daily basis to make life better for me and my family.  I know I will need to ask for support and understanding as I make these changes, but clearing my home from clutter will clear my mind from clutter and will create a calm environment for all. Any tips, guidance, words of wisdom, or motivation to keep me on task is greatly incouraged and most appreciated.  Ok, here we go folks. Until tomorrow.
